Horicon Bank announced Chief People Officer Doreen Hartgerink will retire at the end of June 2027 following nearly three decades at the Bank. Renee Peterson, currently People and Culture Manager, will succeed Hartgerink as Chief People Officer, effective October 1, 2026. Hartgerink will work on special projects with executive leadership in addition to supporting a smooth transition for the Chief People Officer role.
Hartgerink has been a trusted leader, advisor, and advocate for our people throughout her career at Horicon Bank. She has played a significant role in developing and strengthening the Bank’s people strategies, programs, and practices while supporting the growth and development of associates across the organization. Her commitment to developing leaders, succession planning, fostering engagement, and supporting organizational growth has helped position Horicon Bank for long-term success. Beyond her contributions to the Bank, Hartgerink has been actively involved in the Bank’s communities and has served numerous organizations and boards, including PAVE, Beaver Dam Swan City Ice Skaters, Waupun Hockey Association, and most recently REACH Waupun.

Peterson has played a key role in talent management, recruitment, employee development, and organizational initiatives that support the Bank's continued success over the last 26 years, including 14 years in Human Resources. As a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking Human Resources program and a SHRM Certified Professional, Peterson brings extensive experience and a passion for developing people and strengthening teams to her new role. Her commitment to serving others extends beyond the workplace through her involvement with the Horicon Lions, as an Executive Board Member and Finance Chair of the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired, and as President of the Lions Pride Endowment Fund, which supports Wisconsin Lions Projects and Lions Camp. Through both her professional and community involvement, Peterson exemplifies Horicon Bank's commitment to people, service, and community.
