Natural Choices For Vacation

In many ways, summer reaches its peak in August.  Hot days and warm nights make for great swimming, picnics, and vacations.  Fortunately, Wisconsin offers some great places to enjoy summer and nature alone, or with family and friends.

To begin, there are some great City and County Parks for a quick trip outdoors. Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac, Dodge County Ledge and Harnischfeger Parks, Ridge Run Park in Washington County, Hattie Sherwood Park in Green Lake, and Community Park in Oshkosh provide great options to get outside and have fun.

Looking for more adventure?  Try a few of Wisconsin’s 66 state parks and recreation areas.  Some, like the Kettle Moraine State Forest and Pike Lake State Park are very close to Horicon Bank locations, and make great day or overnight trips.  Copper Falls State Park in Ashland County, Devil's Lake near Baraboo in Sauk County, and Point Beach State Forest by Manitowoc are great options for extended trips.

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest offers even more opportunities to experience nature.  Spanning the northern tier of the state from Hayward to Florence, the Cheq-Nic Forest covers 1.5 million acres. With lakes, rivers, and some awesome timber filled with fish and wildlife, the national forest is worth the trip (s).  The forest offers, cabins, RV, campground, and rustic campsites to find your spot to explore nature and rejuvenate spirits.  Of course, there are also many hotels and private resorts for those who like to enjoy nature with a bit more comfort.

Whether you enjoy casting a line, paddling a stream, camping, hiking, birdwatching, picnics, playing games, or simple solitude, Wisconsin offers amazing natural choices.  So, pick your destination and go!
